Outsourced Bookkeeping Services Queensland
Hiring a bookkeeper in-house sounds simple until you work out what it actually costs.
A full-time bookkeeper in Queensland costs somewhere between $55,000 and $75,000 a year in salary alone. Add superannuation at 12%, leave entitlements, workers compensation, payroll tax if you are over the threshold, and the cost of covering them when they are sick or on annual leave. Then factor in that most small businesses do not need 38 hours of bookkeeping a week. They need a few hours a month done properly.
Outsourced bookkeeping gives you a qualified, dedicated bookkeeping team without the overhead of an employee. You pay for what you actually need. And when your volume changes, the service scales with it.
Accounts Advantage provides outsourced bookkeeping for businesses across Queensland. We become your bookkeeping department. You get the expertise, the systems, and the reliability without the employment costs.
What Outsourced Bookkeeping Actually Means
Outsourcing your bookkeeping means having a dedicated team who knows your business, keeps your books current, and is available when you need them.
We are based in Loganholme. We work with Xero and we are a Xero Gold Partner. We set up your file the right way from the start — the right chart of accounts, the right GST codes, payroll under the correct award. Then we maintain it on an ongoing basis so it is always current and always accurate.
You have a consistent point of contact who knows your business and is across your accounts every month. Not someone who picks up your file four times a year at BAS time.
What We Handle as Your Outsourced Bookkeeping Team
Bank reconciliation
Your bank feeds into Xero automatically. We reconcile transactions regularly so your books are always current. You can log in any time and see an accurate picture of your financial position.
Accounts payable
We process your supplier invoices, match them to purchase orders where relevant, and keep your payables up to date. You know what you owe and when it is due before it becomes urgent.
Accounts receivable
We manage your customer invoices and track what is outstanding. Automatic payment reminders go out through Xero so clients get nudged without you having to chase them personally. You can see your aged receivables at any time.
BAS lodgement
We prepare and lodge your BAS every quarter. GST is checked, input tax credits are claimed correctly, and the lodgement is on time. No scramble. No penalties.
Payroll
We run your payroll, calculate super at the correct rate of 12% from 1 July 2025, and report every pay event to the ATO through Single Touch Payroll. Leave balances are tracked. New starters are set up correctly. End of year STP finalisation is handled by 14 July.
Receipt capture
We use HubDoc for receipt management. You photograph receipts on your phone and they upload straight into Xero. No paper. No lost receipts. No scramble at BAS time.
Monthly reporting
At the end of each month we send you a summary of where your business stands. Profit and loss. Cash position. Aged receivables. The numbers you need to run the business, presented clearly.
The Real Cost of an In-House Bookkeeper
Most business owners underestimate what an in-house bookkeeper actually costs.
Salary is the starting point, not the total. On top of salary you have super at 12%, annual leave (4 weeks), personal leave (10 days), long service leave accrual, workers compensation premiums, and payroll tax if you are over the Queensland threshold.
Then there is the hidden cost of management time. Hiring, onboarding, supervising, and covering when they are away. If your bookkeeper goes on maternity leave or resigns suddenly, your books stop. That does not happen with an outsourced team.
And critically, most small businesses do not have enough bookkeeping work to justify a full-time employee. You end up paying a full-time wage for part-time work, or you hire part-time and find that half a bookkeeper is not really enough.
Outsourcing gives you exactly the capacity you need, backed by a full team rather than a single person.
Scalability – Bookkeeping That Grows With You
One of the biggest advantages of outsourced bookkeeping is that it scales.
When your business is quiet, you pay for less. When it grows — more transactions, more staff, more complexity — we scale with you. You do not need to hire, train, or manage additional staff. You do not need to restructure when volume increases.
We work with businesses ranging from sole operators to companies with multiple entities and dozens of employees. The service adapts to where you are.
Business Continuity
With an in-house bookkeeper, your books stop when they do. Sick days. Annual leave. Resignation. Unexpected absence.
With Accounts Advantage, you have a team behind your account. If your primary contact is unavailable, another team member who knows your file steps in. Your books keep moving. Your BAS gets lodged on time. Payroll runs when it is supposed to.
That continuity is something a single employee can never provide.
We Work Alongside Your Accountant
We are bookkeepers, not tax agents. We handle everything up to the point where your accountant takes over. When tax time comes, we give them a clean, reconciled set of records so they can do their job efficiently without spending time on the books first.
We work alongside accountants across Queensland. If you already have one, we fit in. If you need a referral, we can help.
At Accounts Advantage, our Managing Director is CPA qualified and all our team members hold a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. Many of our team members are registered BAS Agents in their own right, in addition to the firm itself being a registered BAS Agent. That means you get qualified, accountable professionals handling your books. Not just someone who learned on the job.
Common Questions
What is the difference between outsourced bookkeeping and hiring a bookkeeper?
With an in-house bookkeeper you have one person, employment costs, leave liabilities, and a gap when they are unavailable. With outsourced bookkeeping you have a team, no employment overhead, consistent coverage, and a service that scales with your business. For most small and medium businesses, outsourcing is more cost effective and more reliable.
Will I have a dedicated contact person?
Yes and no. Each area of your bookkeeping is handled by a dedicated team member within that department. Your payroll is looked after by the same person consistently. Your BAS and GST is handled by another. Your day to day reconciliation by another. Each of them knows your file in their area. You are not starting from scratch every time you reach out.
How do you access my accounts?
We work through Xero. You give us access to your Xero file and we work from there. You can see everything we do in real time by logging into your own Xero account. There is full transparency.
What if I am not on Xero?
We migrate you to Xero as part of getting started. We are a Xero Gold Partner and we handle the migration. Most migrations are complete within a week.
Do you handle payroll?
Yes. Payroll is included in our outsourced bookkeeping service. Pay runs, super, STP reporting, leave management, and year-end finalisation.
What happens if my volume increases?
We scale with you. More transactions, more staff, more complexity — we adjust the service accordingly. You do not need to hire or train anyone.
Are you a registered BAS Agent?
Yes. Accounts Advantage is a registered BAS Agent as a firm. On top of that, many of our individual team members hold their own BAS Agent registration too. That means the person handling your books is qualified and accountable in their own right, not just covered under someone else’s licence. You get two layers of professional protection.
What does it cost?
It depends on your business. For childcare centres we offer a fixed monthly fee from day one. For all other businesses, we work on an hourly rate for the first three months. This gives us time to review your file, understand the scope of work, and catch up anything that is behind. By month three we know exactly how long your books take each month, and we move you to a fixed monthly price from there.
Where are you based?
We are based in Loganholme and work with businesses across the Gold Coast, Logan, Brisbane south side, and all of Queensland. We work remotely with clients across the state.
