BAS Agent Loganholme

Your BAS is due every quarter. Get it wrong and you are either overpaying GST, underpaying and building a liability, or facing penalties for late lodgement. Get it right every time and it becomes one less thing to think about.

Accounts Advantage is a registered BAS Agent based in Loganholme. We prepare and lodge BAS returns for businesses across Logan, the Gold Coast, Brisbane south side, and all of Queensland. We handle the GST, the PAYG withholding, and the lodgement so you do not have to think about it.

What Is a Registered BAS Agent and Why Does It Matter

A BAS Agent is a professional registered with the Tax Practitioners Board who is legally authorised to prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements on behalf of clients. Registration requires meeting specific education, experience, and ongoing professional development requirements set by the TPB.

Not every bookkeeper is a registered BAS Agent. Anyone in Australia can call themselves a bookkeeper without any formal qualifications or registration. Only those who meet the TPB requirements can legally prepare and lodge a BAS on your behalf.

The difference matters for two reasons.

First, an unregistered person who prepares and lodges your BAS is doing so illegally. If the ATO investigates and finds your BAS was prepared by an unregistered provider, the consequences fall on you as the business owner, not on the bookkeeper.

Second, a registered BAS Agent carries professional indemnity insurance and is bound by a code of professional conduct. You have recourse if something goes wrong. With an unregistered bookkeeper, you do not.

What We Include in Every BAS

We do not just enter numbers and hit submit. We review your accounts before every lodgement.

We check that every transaction is coded to the correct GST category. We review your input tax credits to make sure every eligible credit is claimed and nothing is overclaimed. We check your PAYG withholding figures against your payroll records. We reconcile your BAS figures against your Xero accounts so the numbers are consistent and defensible before we lodge.

If something looks wrong, we investigate it before lodging. Not after.

Lodgement on Time Every Quarter

The quarterly BAS deadlines are 28 October, 28 February, 28 April, and 28 July. Missing these deadlines triggers failure to lodge penalties and general interest charge on any amount owed. The longer it sits, the more it compounds.

We lodge every BAS on time. We manage the deadline calendar for all our clients so nothing slips through. We start preparing your BAS well before the due date so there is no last-minute scramble and no risk of missing the deadline.

If you are on a monthly BAS lodgement cycle, we manage that too.

PAYG Withholding

If you have employees, your BAS also includes PAYG withholding. This is the tax you withhold from your employees’ wages and remit to the ATO each quarter or more frequently if your withholding amounts are above the threshold.

Getting PAYG withholding right requires your payroll records to be accurate and reconciled before every lodgement. We reconcile your payroll against your BAS figures every quarter so the numbers match and the ATO has no questions.

GST on Specific Industries

GST is not straightforward for every industry. Construction businesses have specific rules around retentions and progress claims. Medical services have complex GST classification requirements. Businesses with a mix of taxable and GST-free supplies need to apportion their input tax credits correctly.

We also handle GST on imports and deferred GST liability. If your business imports goods, GST is typically payable at the border and needs to be correctly accounted for and claimed as an input tax credit. Deferred GST allows eligible importers to defer payment of import GST to their BAS rather than paying it upfront at the border, which has a significant cashflow benefit. We manage both correctly so your BAS reflects your true GST position.

We work across a range of industries and we know the GST rules that apply to each one. We apply them correctly to your BAS every quarter so you are not overclaiming, underclaiming, or triggering ATO questions about inconsistent lodgements.

Nominating Us as Your BAS Agent

To authorise us to prepare and lodge your BAS, you nominate Accounts Advantage as your BAS Agent through the ATO’s Online Services for Business portal at onlineservices.ato.gov.au/business.

Once nominated, we can communicate directly with the ATO on your behalf, access your lodgement history, view any ATO correspondence about your account, and lodge your BAS without you needing to be involved in every step. We walk you through the nomination process when you come on board. It takes a few minutes and you only need to do it once.

We Are Based in Loganholme

We are based in Loganholme on the southern side of Brisbane. We work with businesses across Logan, the Gold Coast, Brisbane south side, and all of Queensland. Most of our BAS work is done remotely through Xero Practice Manager, our practice management software, which allows us to lodge directly with the ATO on your behalf.

At Accounts Advantage, our Managing Director is CPA qualified and all our team members hold a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. Many of our team members are registered BAS Agents in their own right, in addition to the firm itself being a registered BAS Agent. That means you get qualified, accountable professionals handling your books. Not just someone who learned on the job.

Common Questions

What is a BAS Agent?

A BAS Agent is a professional registered with the Tax Practitioners Board who is legally authorised to prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements on behalf of clients. Registration requires specific education, experience, and ongoing professional development. Only registered BAS Agents can legally do this work on your behalf.

Are you a registered BAS Agent?

Yes. Accounts Advantage is a registered BAS Agent as a firm. On top of that, many of our individual team members hold their own BAS Agent registration too. That means the person handling your books is qualified and accountable in their own right, not just covered under someone else’s licence. You get two layers of professional protection.

When are BAS lodgements due?

Quarterly BAS lodgements are due 28 October, 28 February, 28 April, and 28 July. Monthly lodgements have their own schedule. We manage the deadline calendar for all our clients so nothing is ever missed.

What happens if my BAS is lodged late?

The ATO issues failure to lodge penalties and charges general interest charge on any amount owed from the due date. The longer it remains outstanding, the more it compounds. If you have outstanding BAS lodgements, the best thing you can do is engage us now. We prepare the outstanding returns and help you manage the ATO conversation proactively.

How do I authorise you to lodge my BAS?

You nominate Accounts Advantage as your BAS Agent through the ATO’s Online Services for Business portal at onlineservices.ato.gov.au/business. We walk you through the process when you come on board. It takes a few minutes and you only need to do it once.

Do you handle PAYG withholding as well?

Yes. PAYG withholding is reported as part of your BAS. We reconcile your payroll figures against your BAS every quarter to make sure they match before we lodge.

What if my GST situation is complex?

We work across industries with specific GST rules including construction, medical services, mixed-supply businesses, importers, and businesses with deferred GST arrangements. We know the rules that apply to your industry and we apply them correctly to every lodgement.

What does it cost?

It depends on your business. For childcare centres we offer a fixed monthly fee from day one. For all other businesses, we work on an hourly rate for the first three months. This gives us time to review your file, understand the scope of work, and catch up anything that is behind. By month three we know exactly how long your books take each month, and we move you to a fixed monthly price from there.

Do you work with businesses outside Loganholme?

Yes. We are based in Loganholme and work with businesses across the Gold Coast, Logan, Brisbane south side, and all of Queensland. We work remotely with clients across the state.
