Why Payroll Goes Wrong

Wrong award rates

Australia has over 100 modern awards. The wrong rate applied to the wrong employee is one of the most common and expensive mistakes a business can make. Underpaying staff is a serious legal issue. We make sure the right rate is applied every time.

Late or missed superannuation

Super must be paid at least quarterly. Miss a deadline and the ATO charges the Superannuation Guarantee Charge, which includes interest and an administration fee on top of the super itself. We make sure super goes out on time, every quarter.

STP reporting errors

Every pay run must be reported to the ATO through Single Touch Payroll. Errors in STP create mismatches between what the ATO holds and what your employees see in myGov. We lodge STP correctly after every single pay run.

Incorrect leave calculations

Leave entitlements are more complex than most business owners realise. Part-time employees. Casual loading. Long service leave. Getting this wrong creates disputes and liability. We track leave balances accurately from day one.

Payroll for Construction Businesses

Single Touch Payroll Phase 2

STP Phase 2 expanded the amount of payroll data reported to the ATO with every pay run.

Superannuation Guarantee Compliance

The superannuation guarantee rate is 12 per cent as of 1 July 2025. This is the final legislated rate and is not scheduled to increase further.

Super must be paid at least quarterly. It must be paid through SuperStream to the correct fund. Employees must be given a standard choice form. Stapled super fund rules apply to new employees.

Xero Payroll

We run all payroll through Xero.

Xero Payroll connects directly to your bank. It handles STP reporting automatically. Leave balances are tracked in real time. Payslips go to employees digitally.

Fixed Monthly Pricing

For childcare centres, we provide a fixed monthly price from day one. For all other businesses, we work on an hourly rate for the first three months. This gives us time to review your file, understand your payroll complexity, and make sure everything is set up correctly. By month three we know exactly what your payroll takes each month, and we lock in a fixed monthly price from there.

Most clients find the first couple of months take more hours because there is catch-up work to do. Once your payroll is clean and running smoothly, the ongoing time drops and your fixed price reflects that.
